Selective hand-picking is one of the fundamental prerequisites of quality wine production. Even if it ever became possible to harvest mechanically in our region, a machine could never reproduce the precision and decision-making sensitivity of human pickers. Wine is a cultural treasure, made to be enjoyed by people, so it must meet social standard and cannot be allowed to morph into any old industrial product.

If there is once more to be a system that sets sustainable life as the centre point of our economy and allows people rightly to adhere to this philosophy, then finite resources must be taxed, while human labour must be made free from tax. Our harvesting team has been working for us for many years and is well schooled. To inspire them, we give them a hearty lunch, and with it tey enjoy our wine - which also serves as a reminder of the importance of grape selection, and highlights the need for precision.
